A recent article in Westways magazine surveyed monuments to California’s love-hate relationship with water. One of them, the Snake Basket Fountain, designed by Michael Davis, was only a stone’s-throw away from the SRL.
Finding the fountain was a chore in itself—we drove past it multiple times before locating it.
The boy in the background insisted on trying to ruin every shot that I took. Fortunately, his mother thought I was a professional photographer and yanked him out of sight.
The fountain is beautiful and calming, and in the setting sun makes even time slow down to relax.
Round and round it goes, where it stops nobody knows. That didn’t prevent us from trying to find out, however; many a leaf sacrificed itself by swirling down to the stygian depths in our quest for knowledge.
