July 4:
Flags & Fireworks

BIKERS!

[BOOM] Ah, the Fourth of July... when millions of Americans cremate animal flesh on backyard barbecues, then proceed in large congregations to watch explosions in the sky. Not wanting to appear unpatriotic, we at the SRL decided to celebrate Independence Day not with our usual car breakdowns, but in a more traditional manner.

Huntington Beach was going to have an old-fashioned Fourth, complete with a pagent. Since plans had been made for the Fourth, we couldn't attend. We did, however, perform an impromptu inspection of all of the floats, until a uniformed guard shooed us away.

Bingo at a sewage treatment facility? One wonders just what kind of prizes could be offered...

Ah, yes, the annual harvesting of the flags (which normally takes place on Flag Day, but was delayed this year). Past years have been elaborate; this year was rather subdued, mainly because of time restrictions.

What is more American than an old-fashioned Fourth of July barbecue? Nothing, that's what.

Later, we joined the rest of The Chosen Ones for our return to planet Zoltar.

Ok, ok, we saw some fireworks. Sheesh.
