The Wabe → The Roadtrip → The Roadtrip Reports → Year 3 → The Charge of the Roadtrip
“The Roadtrip way is ruled by the moon, the sun, the eight winds and the myriad neon signs of nature. The Tao of the road and Caltrans Chaos set the stage, and our dharma is but to respond with wit, irony and poetry the best we can. Meanwhile we try to keep our vehicular shrapnel and unraveling tires or imploding engines from despoiling the balance of this unfolding suchness.
“We meditate by becoming one with a venerable automobile which oozes entropy. We are bodhisattvas, who teach the Juh’n K’ee K’ar yoga, to help all other sentient beings reach enlightenment. We follow our bliss, whether orbiting Alamitos Circle or racing along the highways, tempting Kali to make the inevitable happen. We know the sound of one brake shoe clasping.
“Every silly billboard or misspelled movie marquee is a garden growing wild in the ultimate ground of being. Each person doing something laughable is actually the face of the universe, despite the mighty strange look on that face. All the paved world is our ashram.”
