We started very late on Saturday; it was almost 6 PM before we left the apartment. Adding to the delay was the need to make a purchase: the windshield in the LandRafter 2000™ was quite dirty, so we stopped at a drug store to get cleaner. There, Paul bought a unique item: a spray bottle/motorized fan.
Because it was dark, there wasn't much to photograph. We took the I-680 up to the 22, then passed through the Caldecot Tunnel. On the way back, we noticed a large congregation of cars in the middle of nowhere; it turned out to be a midnight Shakespeare festival.
On the way back, we went up and down the Warren Freeway (Route 13)... literally. It goes up and down the infamous Oakland Hills where the firestorm occurred. Near the top is the Oakland Temple, which looks impressive from the distance of the 580, but up close is rather overwhelming.
