The morning of October 5 was spent scouring junk yards for a window crank for the Smogmobile 2000.
The rest of the day was wasted on a personal project of Paul's. He suffers from a chronic lack of taste. Therefore, he had to have a working disco ball in his car. The disco ball he already had; what he needed was a method of illuminating it.
Mini-Maglites were the obvious choice. We tried Fry's Electronics, but they were too expensive ("Your best buys are ZOT! ZOT! ZOT! rarely at Fry's"). Paul found what he was looking for in a army surplus store. But he wanted color lights blinking off the damn thing. We spent all evening scouring art supply stores looking for colored cellophane. When we found some and put it on the Maglites, the lights were way too dim to get decent colored beams, so we just gave up.
