It was a darkly lit room, with a lamp in the corner, offering very little light. shadows krept from the other corners of the room, hiding what could be lurking there. A small bed, big enough for one person was directly in the center, with a night table to the right of me. there were no windows, and it seemed seemed stark and barren.

It is night time, and all I can hear grasshoppers, crickets, and bullfrogs. there must be a marsh nearby, as the faint wafting of stagnant water fills the air. The birch and pine trees surrounding me give off a more pleasant aroma, masking the stench. Over to the right there are a bunch of bullrushes, covering the view of what leads in that direction. There is an owl, perched on the top of the birch tree, above my head, he hoots in greeting.

The path is fairly open, with very little obstructions, it crests not far from where i stand, making me wonder what is farther along the path. It looks well-travelled, with some hoof marks, and very few foot prints. There are no signs in the vicinity and the path seems to get darker as the forest's darkness encloses the path ahead.

The water is a very shallow stream, its dark outside, but the water is clear, and you can see some of the larger rocks at the bottom, I cannot see any fish, but the water seems good enough to drink. The stream seems to be fairly calm, and it may even lead to the marsh that I saw earlier. I do not know where it is coming from, because it seems to continue on either side, endlessly into the dark abyss down the way.

The flask is engraved with tribal designs, and inlaid on near the mouth piece of the flask are four jewels. In the darkness I can make out that they seem to be emeralds. the smooth silver finish reflects the moonlight. Upon opening the flask, there is a strong aroma, of sour berries. It seems to be some kind of home made wine or spirits.

The key is small, It looks like it unlocks a cage of some sort. It is very simple looking, with no engravings or makings. Maybe it will be of some use farther down the path.
