The room is warmed by a fire in the fireplace. The bed is a four poster with a canopy and a feather mattress. One wall is all tall windows, with teal blue velvet drapes and butter colored sheers. The drapes are open and the room is filled with light. The french doors are open to a garden. Bookcases filled with books line the opposite wall. On the wall above the fireplace hangs an oil painting; a portrait of a smiling young woman. In front of the fireplace there is a dark red overstuffed chair with a brown leather ottoman and a soft teal blue cashmere throw. A dog is sleeping next to the ottoman.
The trees are evergreen and are strong and quite tall, but the sunlight shines down through them like rays from heaven.
The path has obstructions such as branches and stones that look difficult to circumnavigate but are in fact easily moved. It is neither wide nor narrow and was well-traveled in the past but has not been used very much in recent times. It is clearly marked, but its direction is not always visible from a distance.
I hear water before I see it. As the trees part at the end of the path, I see a few fish jumping in and out of a beautiful lake, surrounded by trees, shrubs and flowers of many kinds. The lake looks quite deep, yet the water at the surface looks very clear and blue. Except where the fish are jumping, the water is still and reflective.
The drinking vessel is a large porcelain cup. It is very round and very white and it is so nearly translucent that it appears to glow. There are handles on opposite sides instead of just one and is much larger than a teacup. It is very smooth and has a lip that fits well to the mouth. It looks like it would be very pleasing to drink from.
The key is quite large with a beautiful patina and looks like the type of key that would open a large old trunk full of wonderful things.
