        <p>The canopy is thick, allowing only spots of light to hit the ground in rare spots. Half the trees look to be conifers, the rest oak and maple. Cicadas are buzzing in the background, but nothing else moves.</p>

        <p>The path is very narrow, looks like foot traffic only. The trees crowd in on the sides, but not so tightly together as to obscure vision for anything less than twenty or thirty yards. The path winds off to the right. It looks like it gets just enough traffic to keep from getting overgrown, but little more. It's probably a shortcut.</p>

        <p>A very shallow creek, rocks and pebbles under the surface. No mud or any detritus in the water. The water flows smoothly with a little noise. There's enough of a gap in the trees that more sunlight falls on the water than on the rest of the forest ground nearby. I can probably cross the creek in three strides.</p>
