It is a screened in porch, warm but cooled by a gentle breeze. The floor is tiled with a drain in the center, in a design such that the drain is the hub of a wheel. The screens end half way up the wall and a shelf sits atop a wainscot of knotty pine. Vandaceouse Orchids of various kinds, all in bloom, hang against the screens. I am in a chaise lounge.
The trees are huge, sort of like mangroves, with huge and convoluted roots you could get lost in. There is deep, cool shade, punctured by shafts of bright warm sunlight. Vines hang from high up in the trees, littered with spanish moss. Birds, snakes, and monkeys people the branches. The trunks are covered with blooming flowers.
The path is level and smooth and sandy, good to feel with your bare feet. It curves in and around the trees, taking you into deep shadow and back out into bright sunlight. It is well marked, with bridges over the streams and benches where you can sit and admire the view.
The path leads straight into a shimmering pool of water, warm and clean, but fed from a cliff above with a tinkling waterfall. The pool leads to a cleft in the rocks, from which, having waded, you can look back into the sunset and enjoy the water falling upon your shoulders.
It is a stone cup encrusted with rubies and sapphire, primitive but well made, and big enough to hold in both hands. The brandy in it is flavored with a cinnamon stick. The lip is polished moss agate. It sits in a small cool pool on the bank there, just clipped at the back of the lip with a shaft of warm sunlight
It is an ancient key encrusted with runes and celtic designs, a large key, warm to the touch, glowing in the dark. It is the key to the magic castle where the cup came from.
