It's a buttery yellow color, with thin yellow sunlight streaming through the windows lining the right hand side of the room. Each window frosted over from the cold so I can't see outside, but I know that only a few feet from the windows is a dense wall of fir trees. The room is extremely narrow and very long. The floor is a made out of broad oak boards whose length only emphasizes the shape of the room. There is a white door, which is closed, on the left hand wall at the corner of left hand wall and the distant wall opposite me. I'm freezing and lying on the wooden floor. I have my favorite comforter wrapped around me.

The forest is right outside the house, only a few feet from the windows of the room I was in. It is dark in the forest because the trees are densely packed together. The forest floor is covered with a thick blanket of pine needles. Nothing else is growing except the tall, thick trees. The thickness of the trees and the layer of needles on the ground makes the forest curiously devoid of sound. Eerily hushed and silent.

There isn't really a visible path through the forest, but if I look at the ground I can see where the pine needles have been pushed aside to reveal the ground in some places; in others the layer of needles seems to dip, almost like snow that's fallen on a recently shoveled sidewalk. It's hard to follow and looking down at the ground makes my neck hurt, but if I look up I loose what I think is the trail. The pine needles stick to and prick my feet, making them itch.
